Homemade Red Pepper Hummus

I love hummus, but this is the first time I have made it myself. It’s super tasty and versatile, and many versions are using a plethora of ingredients. However, this homemade red pepper hummus is super easy and delicious!

You can spread it on a sandwich, use it as a dip, or eat it with a spoon. After making this recipe, my husband asked if I could make it with bacon. Challenge accepted- stay tuned. Here is my homemade roasted red pepper hummus recipe.

     Easy Hummus Recipe

    What you’ll need:

    • 1 can of garbanzo beans, drained
    • 1 whole roasted red pepper
    • 3 tablespoons tahini
    • 1 clove of garlic
    • 4 tablespoons lemon juice (you will get that with one large lemon)
    • 1 teaspoon salt

    What to do:

  1. To roast the red peppers
  2. Wash and cut peppers in half. Spray a baking sheet with Pam and lay the peppers face down. Spray the tops with a little more pam and season them with salt and pepper. Place them under the broiler for 10-12 minutes until they are nice and black, then throw them in a Ziploc bag. The trick here is that the steam in the bag will loosen the blackened skin. When they’ve cooled, slip off the skin with your fingers and cut them into slices.

When the peppers are done, put all your ingredients into your food processor until nice a smooth. I used my NurtriBullet, but it didn’t work as well as I thought. Serve up with some Pita Chips!
